Seeking to fill multiple volunteer internship positions for processing large amounts of fieldwork data collected from various indigenous language projects.

These data collections will lead to extensive dictionaries, language learning textbooks, apps, and other media projects.

Work will include audio cutting, and the entry, analysis, and organization of collected data. Interns will work closely with our linguistic, textbook, and app development teams to steer all projects towards being culturally relevant and valuable tools for the learner communities.

Experience using Praat, Audacity, Google Sheets, Excel, SIL Fieldworks and/or Tshwane-Lex are a plus.

 

PR/Communications Internship

Seeking personable, aspiring PR/Marketing volunteer intern with proven writing skills and interests in cross-cultural communications.

Work will include organizing press lists, updating social media and multiple websites, drafting press releases, transcribing and editing interviews, and editing video.

Seeking self-motivated Grants/Development Volunteer with interest in Native American issues. Experience or education in fundraising, grant writing, marketing or development preferred. Candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills in English, and must show initiative and professionalism.

Work will include donor data entry and database consolidation, updating grants database, researching and identifying grant programs, and writing reports to government, corporate, and foundation funders.

Seeking part-time volunteer to aid in the creation of Native American language apps and online services.  Working knowledge of UI/UX design, Git, React,  Node.js, mobile programming, SQL and web server administration is a plus.  Candidate must be willing to work at least 15 hours a week.

Perform various tasks including augmented reality object targeting & database creation/administration, web/mobile application development, functional testing and code review.

 

Volunteer Internship as a Program Assistant for a Summer Institute

Seeking to fill multiple part-time, temporary internship positions supporting the planning and implementation of the 2020 Lakota, Crow, Omaha and Ho-Chunk Summer Language Institutes. 

Program Assistants will plan, organize, set up, and coordinate Institutes taking place between May and August 2020.

Applicants should be comfortable speaking on the phone and be oriented toward customer service. They should have a good grasp of Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite and be willing to master new programs including Mailchimp and RegOnline. Attention to detail and a proven track record of team or project management are a must. Additional experience in media documentation (photo, audio, video), applied linguistics (recordings), and social media marketing are desired.

Applications opening in February 2020 for internship opportunities starting May 2020.
